{"id":170,"date":"2024-03-03T14:42:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-03T14:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.fiib.edu.in\/blog\/?p=170"},"modified":"2024-08-08T14:43:11","modified_gmt":"2024-08-08T14:43:11","slug":"expanding-the-boundaries-of-learning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.fiib.edu.in\/blog\/expanding-the-boundaries-of-learning\/","title":{"rendered":"Expanding The Boundaries of Learning"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>&#8220;Teaching Pedagogies and Improving Students&#8217; Experience&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Learning by doing, concept laddering, blended teachings, real-life experiences&nbsp;&amp; simulations\u2026 The pedagogy at FIIB is constantly evolving as our faculty tries new approaches to prepare the leaders of tomorrow for a continually changing and challenging business environment.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/rahulchawdhry\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">&nbsp;<strong>Dr Rahul Chawdhary<\/strong>,<\/a>&nbsp;a teacher and researcher at Kingston University, United Kingdom, addressed our faculty and doctoral students on&nbsp;<strong><em>\u201cTeaching Pedagogies and Improving Students\u2019 Experience\u201d<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;during a recent session. As part of the session, Dr Rahul shared his experiences, stories, and insights on the 3 C\u2019s of modern pedagogy, namely&nbsp;<em>Communication, Concept, and Connection<\/em>. He also discussed the implementation of a&nbsp;<em>culturally responsive curriculum<\/em>, the&nbsp;<em>co-creation of classroom activities<\/em>, the value of employability, and the importance of guiding students beyond traditional student-teacher barriers. The result, according to him, is an enhanced and improved overall student experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s take a look at&nbsp;some of the major takeaways of our faculty members and doctoral scholars from the session:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>A conducive learning setting should be engaging through the right mix of content, communication, and connection. It has to be inclusive and cater to different learning abilities, needs, and personalities present in the classroom.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Prof Farida Rasiwala, Finance Faculty, FIIB<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>A lot of emphases was on understanding the diversity within the student group. Diversity could be because of not just culture but also age, gender, and sexual orientation. As an educator, we need to make our courses sensitive and inclusive in our pedagogy as well.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Prof Shuchi Dixit, HR\/OB Faculty, FIIB<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>A major takeaway from the session was how to make the classroom more interactive. The best way to accomplish this is by incorporating audio, visuals (such as slides, videos, and movie clips), artifacts, and other elements of surprise while delivering the lectures.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Dr Piyush Gupta, Operations Faculty, FIIB<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>I identified the best teaching pedagogies that can help in enhancing the student\u2019s experience. As rightly said by Dr Rahul \u201cthe students are no less than consumers\u201d and we as teachers (service providers) need to ensure sure complete satisfaction of the students (consumers) with the coursework. Hence, innovation, laughter, digitalization, and engagement are true essentials in coursework delivery.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Shubhangi Verma, FPM Scholar, FIIB<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Gained a better insight into different teaching pedagogy styles and how to cope with\/interact in a classroom environment.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Sachin Kumar Raut, FPM Scholar, FIIB<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The session was quite comprehensive in terms of discussing the teaching pedagogies as to how to connect well with the students. My key takeaways from the sessions were as follows:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Having clear audible communication with students is a must.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Using visual aids (videos, movie clips etc.) would help the students in learning it better<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Using tech platforms to engage students (Kahoot and Mentimeter)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creating interdisciplinary context to discuss various aspects of a topic<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discussions with Class representatives to get feedback to improve classroom engagement\/activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discussion of unusual cases apart from the landmark ones<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/em><em>&nbsp;Dr
